This experience is designed for business finance students eager to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. Learners will engage with an innovative company to streamline business processes and operational structures, focusing on logistics and finance. By conducting comprehensive financial studies and analyses, students will provide strategic recommendations to improve operational efficiency. This collaboration allows learners to work closely with business leaders, offering fresh insights and actionable solutions to enhance company performance.

Engage with third-year students from the Leadership and Management diploma program as they explore how innovation and emerging technologies can inspire creative business solutions. These students bring a diverse skill set that includes management, accounting, global business, global citizenship, organizational behaviour, economics, supply chain, customer relationship management, business research, ethics and EDI, marketing, and leadership. While these business majors are not technology specialists, they are familiar with platforms like Hootsuite (social media management platform), Salesforce (CRM), MsOffice (Word,PPT, Excel, Access, Outlook and collaborating with these via 365), some students may have gained skills in Weebly/Wix website development, Envision (consumer insights by Environics Analytics), Shopify (online store), social media (TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), and Google Analytics. Students are often able to learn a new technology quickly and easily based on what they have already learned and achieved in their studies. This semester, we are offering students a selection of real-world challenges to choose from. You’re invited to submit a project idea aligned with your organization’s goals. Students will dedicate 40-80 hours over approximately 10 weeks (mid-Sept. to early Dec.) to researching, planning, and developing innovative recommendations in response to your proposed challenge.

Partner with students in the Occupational Health and Safety Management program as they explore ways to identify hazards, assess their severity by applying various assessment techniques and determine the likelihood they will cause harm. They will also review any available relevant documentation. Through a comprehensive risk assessment, students will evaluate the existing controls for effectiveness and make recommendations for appropriate corrective measures in the form of a detailed plan.   The capstone project draws upon all other courses in the program to enable students to gain an experiential understanding of the real-life applications of occupational health and safety management in the workplace. Integrating the knowledge and skills gained in the program, students will assume the role of health and safety practitioners and inspect a workplace to assess and prioritize risks. List of requirements from the company: Pre-inspection contact interview (30 minutes) with the designated H&S prime (at your convenience) Access to the site for inspection Access to any previous H&S information records (past H&S inspection reports/recommendations, accident/injury reports, hazardous materials information (as appropriate) maintenance reports, safety training records, a copy of an existing floor plan of the facility and/or any other reports that would assist in better understanding the organizations current H&S practices, trends and issues Students would also require permission from their employer to identify, record, and take photographs of potential and actual hazards uncovered during the inspection.   All students participating in the safety inspection will adhere strictly to all safety procedures and company policies. This includes the mandatory use of personal protective equipment within the facility.

This experience is designed for students with a keen interest in web application development and data analytics, focusing on the Shopify platform. Learners will apply their technical skills to create robust web applications that enhance e-commerce capabilities and integrate data analytics solutions. By collaborating with industry professionals, students will gain practical experience in developing applications that streamline business operations and provide valuable insights through data analysis.
